Story

So, Akira is a mostly normal teenager, or more accurately, your average shonen protaganist. He and his little sister Kaori live in the Bright Sparks Orphanage, having arrived after the death of their father. Also, in this entire pre-chapter exposition dump, specifically near the end, Akira instructs the player on how to use his psychic abilities in gameplay by directly acknowledging them, something that has been happening all throughout this little section of the game.

After that entire set-up, it cuts to Akira lounging on a park bench. This little intro section is a great way to try out the ability to read minds, something that really comes in handy throughout the story.

After Akira's done with that whole thing, he goes to leave, but ends up getting ambushed by a bunch of thugs, and for some reason, they're thinking about some kind of "quota", but he fails to get more info on it, as this is a literal kidnapping attempt. It goes sideways though as a man with really tall hair comes in the nick of time and helps Akira beat the ever-loving shit out of them.

That's done now, and the dude with the really tall hair is Matsu (there's also Kenichi and Lawless, and also Matsui which is a name he doesn't even go by any more... it's hell to tag his name on different sites basically). So Matsu takes Akira to the orphanage on his motorcycle, and this really cool theme song plays for the chapter while theres these different mildly hellish shots of characters we haven't met yet.

After all that, Akira gets dropped off at the orphanage, and Matsu speeds off without even saying "hi". Akira walks in, and there's some downtime in the story. Not much really happens, you're able to talk with the kids at the orphanage or sell taiyaki at the stand in the park (see guide on that after this).

After hearing (or rather, reading this, I guess idk) from Kaori, Akira goes to chase down Matsu with Tariomo following behind. They bust into the facility and start searching for him, with a few mild cases of fucking around with people's minds, that or Tariomo just beats the guards up.
